DIY Tutorial: Quote Poster

September 14, 2012 1 min read 3 Comments

Here's what you'll need:

Place your ruler on top of your card stock where you want your letters to be keeping in mind the size of the border of your stencil. When you find a place you like, tape down the ruler on the cutting board. The card stock is still free to move around if you need to adjust your placement.

You want to take the middle letter of your word and place it in the center and then trace the rest of the letters in correlation to that center letter. If it's easier to see the distance between the letters, feel free to cut down the stencil.

Trace all the letters, making sure everything is where you want it.

Start cutting away!

Now that all the letters are cut out, find a magazine page that has an interesting pattern or picture and place the cut out letter page on top.

And now a quote poster is born! Very simple but pretty rewarding when you finish and you can always swap out the background with different paper/magazine clippings.

Other ideas to try: glitter it! contrast it! sew it!
