Fresh Year. Fresh Start.

2020 was the year that broke our hearts. Yet in the midst of all the bleakness, we found silver linings. I'm especially proud of our team at MAIKA for keeping one foot in front of the other, and spreading small joys.

As a nation, we homeschooled, mastered Zoom, baked bread and serenaded strangers.We idolized celebrities less and celebrated everyday heroes more. We became less uncomfortable with the idea of doing less, or sometimes nothing. We learnt to love the silence.

As a family, we reclaimed time to go for long runs, read and re-read books and binged on movies. We  drew a ton together and found rainbows after the storms. 

The absence of seemingly insignificant activities made us realize what we had taken for granted. So we dreamt of what to look forward to in 2021... attending live performances, eating in restaurants, sleepovers, running without masks, hugs, and dare I say, traveling again? 

Here's to a brighter 2021.
