We know, we know, it's not officially here yet, but we can't help daydreaming about all things summertime, especially when it comes to road trips. Driving up the California coast, or over a Rocky Mountain pass, or through the windy lush roads of the East Coast is one of the most memorable ways to spend your summer and no matter where you live, planning a summer road trip is almost a season essential.
Whether you're planning your next escape or are simply daydreaming, our top five road trip essentials may inspire you on your next escapade.
We're all for a great vintage playlist when it comes to long car rides and beautiful views. This Summer of Seventy Five playlist is the perfect starting point.
You may or may not have a favorite bag already, but since we fancy ourselves to be a bit of an expert on all things bag related, think this one is just about perfect, especially or road trips. There's nothing worse than packing everything you need for the journey and then being unable to find it a few hours into the trip. To save your essentials from being buried by your other bags, we love sending our customers (and ourselves) off on road trips with our Carryall Tote Plus.
It features multiple inside pockets to keep your books/laptops/headphones separate from your snacks and even has an exterior zip up pocket for your drink to keep the interior safe from spills.
If you can plan ahead, we love packing fresh fruit and veggies for road trips. They'll keep you energized and awake for the drive. From there, this article from Wholefully recommends trail mix, crackers and hummus, and smoothies in mason jars to reduce waste along the way.
Toss it all in our Lunch and Pie Tote and get on the open road!
Although book taste is extremely personal, we're big fans of books meant to inspire and encourage women to be the best selves. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert is an incredible read (or listen) that will inspire you to live creatively. For even more recommendations, this list from Women's Day has 54 other great options.
We like to be "road trip chic" on drives, because you never know which stop you'll take next. Comfort is top priority, so a good pair of leggings (we love these!) with a long tunic tee and a great sweater over the top paired with your favorite sneakers will keep you looking put together but still comfortable.
Another underrated road trip hero is the jumpsuit (click here for some favorites from another women-owned, size inclusive brand). Choose a fabric like Tencel or something stretchy and breathable like cotton or hemp to keep you comfortable. When you exit the car you'll look like you tried when you actually didn't which is a win/win in our book.
