Meet Malibu: Bold and Playfully Refined

THE BACKSTORY

Mention Malibu and you'll likely conjure up images of luxurious celebrity homes and long stretches of California beaches. But less mentioned is the fact that the city is also home to a stunning backdrop of mountains and inland trails that are equally mesmerizing.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

We were inspired by the organic patterns in its natural landscape in both the waters and in the mountains. Lots of curves and lines with painterly strokes dominated our early exploratory sketches.

From ocean blues to dusky pink sunsets and luscious mountainous trails, we had a whole range of hues to work from. Editing down to a single color that captured the essence of Malibu proved to be rather challenging. So many beautiful options to pick from!

What we decided in the end was to focus on our objective for this collection: whether you're headed to the beach or the mountains, Malibu needed to live as a pattern that is the perfect companion for your adventure. It was then it was clear the blue hues are the winner.
