Simple and bold, Sierra is quickly becoming a much adored pattern in our Spring 2020 collection. In 2019, California had one of its most epic Superbloom ever and inspired the birth of Sierra.
For those of you not familiar with the Superbloom phenomena, it happens when an unusually high proportion of wildflower seeds blossom at the same time, usually after a wet rainy season. The result? Fields and fields of flowers in bloom! It's quite a sight to behold.

"It's a playful process, piecing together floral elements and taking them apart. We literally sat on the floor and moved petals around, plucking leaves, creating configurations and surprising color combinations. Nature at its best, really." ~Viola Sutanto, MAIKA Creative Director
The challenge for us in creating Sierra was simplifying and reducing the essence of Superbloom into a vibrant, yet elegantly simple pattern that would work across all our products. We're pretty pleased with the result, and hope you like it too. Introducing Sierra....
We've revealed the story behind Sierra and Capitola from our Spring Collection. Stay tuned for our 3rd installment featuring Tribeca.
