I bought the waxed hunter green as a carry on a vacation flight. It held everything! Books, my iPad, a bag with my cables and such, my meds, my cross stitch (which I carried in a Maika pouch in caramel). Everything fit, and was conveniently at hand. I love it!
Maika Bags are the BEST! Great bags!
I have purchased many Maika commuter bags and backpacks, and I highly recommend both styles. I have used them when in the hospital overnight and for weekend excursions. These have been great gifts for my friends and family members.
Love this bag. The color is beautiful and it is very well made.
Less structure than it appeared with online
The bag is ok - but it has a lot less structure and a more faded color than how it appeared online. It does not hold its shape as well as I'd hoped.
1ish year review
I was excited to buy this bag last spring/summer, but would have loved to see additional reviews on its durability and usability, so here you go… The hunter green color is rich and has not faded despite daily use. I use this bag as a purse and general mom bag (it holds diapers, clothes, snacks, multiple water bottles, my stuff, etc). I find the pockets and two main sections really useful- separating my stuff from the kids’ stuff. When researching bags, I had a hard time finding tote style bags with a top zipper, so this is a huge plus for this bag. The expandable outside zipper pocket is also great! I mostly wear it as a shoulder bag, using the larger strap, but sometimes expand it as a crossbody. Now for the less wonderful: as others have noted, the straps are not very durable- the stitching started coming apart within 3 months of use. The inside material is not durable enough if you plan on attaching your keys to the key chain inside (on its own, this is a huge perk and I do use it). The inside material started pulling within a month of use. I would also prefer the zipper extend so that the opening of the bag is not quite so narrow. In fairness, Maika recommended the carryall bag to me as a diaper bag/purse, but as a small statured person that bag would have engulfed me and its lack of pockets and structure wouldn’t have worked well for me. Overall I’m very happy with this bag, but hope that Maika considers some more durable materials for sustained use.
