I love this bag--it holds my laptop and my lunch with a pop of color!

I love my Commuter Tote. It is easy to carry and I love all the pockets on the inside and the 2 on the outside. I get so many compliments on the fun pattern. I love this tote.
Lovely & well made, but..............
As previous reviews have stated, all Maika products are very well made, and so beautiful. From fabric art to fastenings/hardware. Well worth the investment. I will continue to add to my collection.
That said, writing from the perspective of a shorter person, the handles on the Commuter Tote that allow you to carry it by hand or on your shoulder (vs wearing it crossbody) are an awkward length when being used as a crossbody bag. When being worn as a crossbody, the handles stick out awkwardly and get caught on things, or get in the way unless you tuck them into the bag. (I can't imagine, for example, wearing The Commuter Tote on a crowded subway commute like I have with both the Crossbody Bag & the Market Tote.) One can wear it on the shoulder, yes, but then the width of the bag (it is square vs. rectangular) is a bit of a problem there. The other Maika Crossbody Bags, the Backpacks, and the Market Totes each function better in their capacities than the Commuter Tote does in its, for me. It's lovely, but its trying to do too much which makes it inherently unable to do any one thing really well for my purposes. I'd like to see this bag be designed longer vs wider, have much shorter handles or none at all, or have a wider cross body strap that you can shorten to carry it on the shoulder if you want to, eliminating the need for extraneous handles. I guess what I am describing is a larger version of the Crossbody Bag, except that it still would have the front and side outer pockets which is very convenient. In its current incarnation, it just isn't as easy to use as the other Maika designs and products I have and love.
